Page navigation not working with static page

I’ve been having some problems with my website’s navigation lately. The navigation page doesn’t seems to work. Whenever I try to go to a different page to view my previous post, it just redirects me to the homepage.

– Reverting to default permalink works, but I’d prefer to use custom permalink for SEO.
– The navigation only happens when I use static page as homepage. If I choose the default ‘your latest post’ option as a front page display, the navigation works fine.
– The page navigation works fine in categories, archive and even search pages, just not the homepage sadly.
