Hi, I’m experiencing an issue with the main navigation links. When I’m on the blog page, the links in the nav don’t go anywhere. When clicked, they show the correct page URL in the browser bar, but the page stays on the blog. This is ONLY happening on the blog page. Has anyone seen this before? I am totally stumped. (and I actually switched from a customized theme to a non-customized Twenty Sixteen and it’s still happening!) I’ve deactivated all the plugins.

    Thanks for any help!
    Carrie

Yes, they were copied, not moved, and the index.php that is now in the root folder has the correct path added.

Sorry but something is definitely not right with that site post move. Can you try to revert all of your changes?

Can you tell me what you’re seeing that makes you think there is an issue? I did all of those changes over a year ago and it’s been working fine until this nav issue. I followed the steps on the codex exactly.

None of the links on your menu seemed to work at all when I tried them. As in “no page change”.

There’s nothing actually displaying at the root of the domain. https://rachaelherron.com/ should automatically bring up whatever you’ve designated as the site’s front page in settings -> Reading. Instead I got a 404 – even with the plain (default) permalink structure being used. That should never happen unless its a site in a sub-folder that hasn’t been configured to take over the root folder correctly.

Do you mean now, or when I had the permalinks set to the default structure? It was a 404 for rachaelherron.com/blog, but rachaelherron.com still worked for me when the default permalink structure was on.

https://rachaelherron.com is bringing up the site fine for me now. and the links are working too. I promise the configuration is correct – I have checked it multiple times and it has been working for a long time.

Do you mean now, or when I had the permalinks set to the default structure?

    Both.

It was a 404 for rachaelherron.com/blog, but rachaelherron.com still worked for me when the default permalink structure was on.

I got a 404. Could you have possibly switched it back over again as I went to check again?

Also, can I ask why are keep using rachaelherron.com/blog as opposed to rachaelherron.com/ for the site’s main url?

not sure what you mean by main url? https://rachaelherron.com goes to the home page, that’s a static page that can be changed. the posts show up on https://rachaelherron.com/blog

Um – have you checked the site again recently? All of the top menu links are now working for me! The site even looks quite different. I wonder if there was a temporary issue with your hosts?

Yes! I changed the theme back to the custom theme. I really think this was plugin related, specifically a plug-in that was excluding a category. I’m off to find the right way to exclude a category from the blog posts page ?? thanks for all your help, Esmi, you set me in the right direction to fix this.

    Thanks!

I’m glad you got there in the end, ??
