• Using Twenty Twenty Four theme, I created a navigation in the editor and checked it was correctly assigned to pages, posts and the home page etc.

It has eight menus – six of which have submenus. I don’t see a way to add a picture here, but an identical one works fine on our other site: https://workingsheepdog.co.uk – if you visit the link, you will see all eight items at the top, but on the site in question, (this link https://sheepdog-training.com) only seven show up! They all appear in the editor though!

I deleted all the unused menus, so I can’t see how this is happening. I tried disabling all plugins, and even my custom CSS – and purged the Cache, but still the problem persists.

    Can anyone help please?

  • Go to “Appearance” > “Editor” > “Design” > “Pages” and edit the “Blog Home” page. Use the “List view” to open up the header and view the contents of the “Navigation” pattern. Reference screenshot 1, below:

I noticed that some of your https://workingsheepdog.co.uk/ menu items point to the other website: https://sheepdog-training.com/

Perhaps this is affecting the problem.

Thanks @harry-hobbes. As I said in my OP all eight menu items are in the Editor version of the header.

They are visible both in the main window, and in the sidebar – on both sides. The navigation appears normally in Blog Home, Pages, Archive and Posts Templates. The problem is, the ‘Training’ menu does not appear on any live pages or posts.

I find it hard to believe that linking to another site will have any effect, in fact the menu which is missing has most of its links pointing to the same website.
I’m more than happy to listen if you have a reason to think external links might be a problem though…

Hey @andynick! All 8 items seem to be visible on the site https://sheepdog-training.com/ now. Are you still seeing this issue, or did you find a solution?

Hello @properlypurple, apologies for the delay in replying. (I have the reply box checked and my email is current but for some reason I no longer get notifications when people reply on this forum).

For that site, I completely built a new Navigation from scratch – and it worked.

Unfortunately, since then, I built a third one on another of our sites, and that didn’t work properly either. It seems crazy to me that building a Menu in WP is such a slow, laborious process, and once created, you cannot copy and paste it into another site. (WHY?)

Now I’m in the process of abandoning WP Navigation altogether, and adapting a responsive dropdown I found on W3Schools. Their stuff works! (Once I get my head round it)!

Hey @andynick! I did some testing with this, and it looks like that when you copy-paste a navigation block, it copies a reference to the saved menu that’s in your site.

If your new site has a menu with the same name, but has different items, it will be loaded as-is. The site editor has a navigation section(see screenshot below), where you’d have to edit this navigation for it to show up correctly.
