I installed both Smush.it and wp ecommerce on my wordpress. And I found that when Smush.it was activated, I couldn’t upload the image, I would often get a “502 bad gateway” message.

This happened despite that I m running smush.it (1.6.5.3), wp ecommerce (3.8.12.1) and wordpress (3.6.1), all latest version. I am now forced to disable smush.it because of this problem

  • @nsoonhui,

The Smush.it plugin should not be effected by the wp ecommerce plugin. When you upload images the Smush.it plugin attempts to use the Yahoo! Smush.it API to have it process the image. This can delay the upload processing.

If you go to Settings > Media on your site you will see there is a section for the Smush.it plugin. There you can turn off the option to have Smush.it process images on upload. If this is turned off you can use the Bulk Smush.it option via the Media menu.

I’m not sure why you would be seeing the 502 HTTP error. It could be that you are not allowed to make external calls from your server or you are running on a local host.

Hi, could it be that it took too long for Smush.it plugin to process the image, that the host had to cancel it and returned me a 502 Bad Gateway error?

    Hi there @nsoonhui,

Greetings, hope your well today ??

That is unlikely, it’s most likely is caused by you not being allowed to make external calls from your server.

Could you also check your error_log for me within cPanel please? ??

    Thank you!

    Kind Regards
    Jack.
