Hey I am having issues with getting the Necessary Catagory to be locked on “Enabled” on the front end, so user’s can’t disable it. Both the original English Catagory with the slug “necessary” and the translated versions, which have their own slug, users can enable/disable the catagory on the front end.

Searching through other posts with similar problems, I found that the solution is to use the same slug on all the translations. For some reason I can’t do that. If I try to rename a slug in my danish version of the catagory to “necessary” it will just convert it back to its previous name upon updating. If i create a new catagory and give it the slug “necessary” it will rename it to “necessary-2” upon updating.

I noticed that in the original Necessary catagory, the option to default the catagory in the Enabled or Disabled position is not available, while it is in other catagories. I assume this is because it is supposed to be locked on Enabled by default?

Any help would be highly appriciated.

    Hi @sinwolf,

The necessary category is Always enabled by default. Keeping the slug to ‘necessary’ will keep it in the same way.

Please share your site URL so that we can check it.

My webpage is currently locked behind a maintenance mode, I assume it would be necessary to disable the maintenance for you to view it?

I think I have figured out where it goes wrong, but not the why, or how to fix it. I use Polylang for translated versions of everything on my webpage.

The main language is set to Danish, so the original English writen Catagories are by default set to the Danish branch on Polylang. When I change it to belong to the English branch, the Necessary Catagory looses its “always enabled” functionality, despite having the “necessary” slug.

As for the Danish version of the Catagory in my case called “N?dvendige” I can’t set it up with the “necessary” slug (I use the free version of both Polylang and GDPR Cookie Consent)

    Hi @sinwolf
I think I have had the same issue and I managed to solve it by going to the top bar on wordpress, where you must have by default “show all languages” (or something similar). Change it to danish and then you can rename the category’ slug to “necessary”. Then you can go back to “show all languages” again and you should have those 2 categories with different names but same slug and both will be “Always enabled” on the front end.
