• I have a beginners WP site, built as a business site and not a blog. I currently have a page where visitors may click a link to download a file from one of my other servers.

I’d like to have a record of who downloads the file. What I’d ideally like is:
Visitor fills out form w/name, company, email address, and where how they found the site. I’d like a “Download File” button. When this is clicked, the file downloads, and I get an email letting me know it was downloaded and the name, company, email address, and where they heard of this site. Captcha would be nice, and not required.

I’ve seen plugins to send emails, and upload files, but none that do what I need.

I would appreciate any input I can get from all you seasoned WP folks.

If you’d like to see what have at the moment: https://macedge.net/MEC1/about/great-deal-on-arborist-filemaker-database/

    TIA,
    L

  • I have the same problem to solve. I would like to allow file download after filling in a contact form.

    Thanks for any tips.

    Hi All,

We had the same need, so we created a plugin for ourselves called Email Before Download and made it available for everyone else to download: https://bit.ly/dF9AxV.

It combines Contact Form 7 and Download Monitor so you can create any form you like, collecting whatever information you feel is required. Hope it helps and let us know if think of any new features you’d like to see.
