Need a Recommendation for a Filter Plugin

I just need some advice regarding a good product filter. Here is some background information:

1. I am developing an online sporting goods store, using WordPress, Woocommerce, and the Shopkeeper theme.
2. When customers enter the store, they will then be presented with a home page that displays an array of buttons from which to choose the particular sport that interests them; e.g., ‘Archery,’ ‘Basketball,’ ‘Baseball’…etc. This will, as stated, be the home page, not a part of the product filter.
3. Once they are taken to the page dealing with the sport they want, I want them to be able to apply a filter, choosing from three options:
a) Equipment
b) Apparel
c) Novelties
4. I am not a programmer/designer/techie, and have next-to-no skills in coding, so I need a filter that is totally idiot-proof, allowing me to format it to achieve the above structure. Any filter that requires html or similar skills would be worthless to me.
