    Hi Shawn,

I’m sorry to disappoint, but this functionality is provided via Jetpack plugin and you can not really do what you aim for here. Several of other theme users actually attempted to achieve similar layout, but with no luck.

The theme actually can’t do much about the output of the food menus. Jetpack plugin restricts this quite a lot.

I will try to propose changes to Jetpack team to see how it goes. Also, I will try to add the menu scroll navigation on specific food menu sections if they contains subsections. I think that could resolve your issue, actually.

Stay tuned for the next theme update.

    Regards,

    Oliver

    Hi Oliver,

Thanks for this, it’s looking good ??

Perhaps let me explain the problem a bit more. When we’re in the parent /menu/, it shows all main sections. In your theme it’s first courses, main courses, desserts, drinks.

Your sub-sections in /menu/drinks/ are clearly defined, with a separator between each section. However in the parent /menu/, the sub-sections are combined, for example in /menu/drinks/, cocktails are combined with alcohol and coffee.

I understand that ‘drinks’ would mean all drinks, and if the person clicks on menu > drinks, it would show up nicely. But I’m sure alot of people would click directly on the parent menu, so they would be shown 1 list of all drinks combined, which makes for difficult viewing.

Would it be possible to add another identical ‘food menu’, but call it ‘drinks menu’ instead? I know this is a big ask, but I’d just like to share feedback ?? Appreciate all your hard work on this!

    Shawn

    Hi Shawn,

Yes, the combination of sections on parent pages is intentional as there is a design problem of how to show sub sections there and also a problem with how Jetpack generates the list.

If you come up with a better design solution, let me know please, I’ll see what I can do about it ??

You don’t really have to use a combined menu ever, if you want. This is basically displayed only on “Food menu” page template when no food menu section is selected for it.

I think your problem is in organization of your food menu. Please understand that all the Food Menu functionality is provided by Jetpack plugin and it does not contain any Drinks Menu. But there is really no need to, I think. Try to think of this food menu sections organization for your site:

    • Dishes
    • Starters
    • Main courses
    • Drinks
    • Beverages
    • Wine
    • Beer

Then just display “Dishes” food menu section on food menu page and “Drinks” on drinks menu page.

    Regards,

    Oliver
