• Need some advice backing up.
I want to install a plugin that backups and stores onto my Google Drive.

Let’s say I have 10 websites. Can I backup to 10 different Google accounts?
If 10 accounts, should I schedule all to backup at different times? Else the server will be hogged!

    Let’s say I use Google Drive. Let’s say a backup is 100MB.
How can I cycle? So, I only have 100 backups.

Server resources – backing up, does it massively impact the server?
Should I be running after midnight or something?

WHAT do I need to backup?
    Backup images only once.
Then later backups, only backup incremental changes for example?
    Is this possible?
    (Like Acronis on a PC)

    Thanks.

  • Hi,
You can use updraftplus plugin to help you backup to google drive. For me, I use the same google drive account for all my websites, of course, you can use different google drive accounts if you want.
Inside the settings, you can set to keep how many copies of the backup, for example, you can choose to keep only the latest 10 days of backup for each website.
Ideally, you should run the backup when less visitors are on your site but if you are using a shared hosting, then it is hard to estimate that.
For me, I backup everything, images, files, database because you need everything if you want to restore the site.
    Hope this info helps!

I use Duplicator pro for this. It backs up all
of my sites to Google drive on a schedule.
