Need advice on type of template

  • I have a YaBB board which I am in the process of moving to WordPress 2.8. I need help and advice as to which template would be best for a forum like mine. I have been searching through 3 col templates here but there are so many I tend to find after I have installed them they are quite different. I would be grateful for any ideas.

  • I am sorry, but I do not understand exactly what it is you want to do ..

    If you want to have a wordpress template that will LOOK like your site, you will have to build one (or customize existing one)

    If you want to inglobe your board inside wordpress, well, you should search for a bridge plugin.

    If you want to just want to have a link to your board from within wordpress (using header and footer) you will have to use custom pages.. (IMHO)

    sorry if I was not clear.

    I have a YaBB board and want to move messages to WP. There is no converter. I transferred messages via RSS but they are all scrambled so one by one I am checking and correcting them I have 120+ to go I was asking is there an easier way

    wordpress and YaBB are two different things with two different functions.
    Wordpress is a Blog Platform (some would argue that today it is already a CMS) and YaBB is a Forum (Bulletin Board)

    What exactly are you planning on doing ? transform all the messages to posts ? to comments ?
    Maybe you are referring to the BBPress ??

    Sorry I am not being clear. I realise the difference hence my question. YaBB(Yet another Bulliten Board) is software for forum.
    I want to know how to transfer posts to WP so they can appear as posts or pages. As I said earlier posts have been transferred but any html in messages is scrambled so trying to find out is there another way rather than manually going through each message. I have already done about 20 but it is taking time

    PS 403 forbidden message on blog at moment tried the chmod and.htaccess fixes but no joy yet.

    Well, not knowing YaBB , I can not help…
    You actually need to write a small parser to translate from YaBb to wordpres posts ..
    It should not be too difficult, but it require one to know the YaBB RSS format .
