Need count up timer to only display in days

Hello,
I need the easy timer to count up starting from a certain date in the future, and only in days. So far, my shortcode is:
Time on the Road: [counter date=+0][after][elapsed-dtimer][/counter].So I have two questions:
1. Why does the [elapsed-dtimer] still display minutes?
2. How do I specify the time I want the timer to start (say 5/11/2014 at 12:00am for example)?Website: https://www.backpackingotc.com
