Just make sure you keep both available [old and new] they are both too good to put in the cupboard…

I’m a little worried it just doesn’t all fit together – and that it might be hard to read. You know how it is when you stare at a screen for too long – sometimes you just need some input.

Welll, you don’t need to worry. It is excellent. Really. My only criticism [if you can call it that] is that perhaps the menu could do with a bit of graphic input. Not much though – just enough to ‘balance’ the site really.

My suggestions …

Since you are already going for a heavy gothic theme (and that’s gothic as in history):

* The overall typo does not reflect the atmosphere that you start with the header. I would suggest a serif font like Georgia or Times.

* Overall I find the basic text width and font size not in proportion. Either make the width smaller – so your readers eyes can easier swing from the end of one line to next beginning – or simply crank the font size up.

* The headlines (or it’s fonts) are to small IMHO

* The content ‘frame’ is to delicate, it needs to be bigger to correspond to the proportions of the header. Maybe also the inner edges could be rougher – not just a straight line …

* … and I am sure your right side nav will be more goth as well …

Does anyone know what to tweak in the CSS to make the lines of writing a little farther apart?

Looks great, I don’t exactly know what you mean further apart but I am guessing just some space between the lines?

You can also do line heights in percentages:

line-height: 150%;
