Need French accented letters on the URL

There used to be a tiny little plugin for this – unfortunately its download is currently blocked: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/allow-accents-and-special-characters-in-permalinks/

The article recommends this plugin here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/permalink-manager/ – it works for me in the test, but I can’t access the pages created this way, which is probably related to my webserver, which would also have to allow such URLs. But you can test it for yourself and if you have any questions contact the support of the plugin.

Such a plug-in should not be needed anymore. You can edit the slug and use any characters you like. Accented, emojis, whatever. WordPress switched to unicode encoding a long time ago for that sort of thing.

So while it may remove the accented characters by default, you can edit the slug and put them back. No plug in needed.

Mmmh, have you ever tried this with an actual wp-version? I can reproduce the problem that the URL after saving a new page in Gutenberg does not contain any accents. Only with the above plugin it works.
