You can add a role field to your registration form. You can add “Roles ( Radio )” or “Roles ( Dropdown)” field to your registration form as per your requirement. Please check this screenshot.

Aswin, thank you. Two questions:
1) when signing up, role A will require a different set of fields from role B. How can we achieve that?
2) How can we make sure roles in the dropdown, or radio matches exactly the roles we desire?

Sorry for the late response.

1. You can add conditional logic to the field settings. Please see this doc: https://docs.ultimatemember.com/article/89-conditional-logic

2. It should assign the role selected in the Roles field(checkbox or dropdown ). Please take note that we disabled the roles that have administrative/editor capabilities to show in the Roles field due to the security issue.

And we are running into 2 issues:

1) The role drop down does not show the choices we have entered.

2) It would take like over a minute to load the register form.

We have not only cleared cache, but also set the register page not to be cached.

In the conditional logic you must use the um ID (um_agent) for the Role not the Role Name (Agent).

Example: Show if Roles (Dropdown) equals to um_agent

Where is um ID? Is it the same as role ID?

We tried role ID, and it is still the same.

In your role listing it’s the value in the “Role ID” column.
UM created roles have a prefix um_

But not all roles are available. Role fields may contain user roles created by Ultimate Member and predefined role Subscriber. User roles created by third-party plugins are excluded to avoid conflicts.
