Need help creating a page that has editable fields
-
I am creating a new website for an organization that offers writing classes. One of the most important pages on the website is a “class page” which provides the information about a given class (name of the class, description of the class, date, time, price, location, etc). The old/current website’s “class pages” are in the format of a Post. To create new class pages on the old website we currently go to WP Dashboard > Posts, click on ‘New Draft’ under any given post, and then edit the post title (name of the class), post body (description of the class), and the date/time/price/location. The title, body, date/time/price/location are then automatically populated into the newly created class page. Easy peasy. Here is an example of a class page on our old website:

At this point I need to recreate the backend input functionality of the “class page” for the new website. I downloaded the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin to make the ‘New Draft’ link show up in WP Dashboard > Posts, but when I click the ‘New Draft’ link I am taken to the page shown in the second photo below which allows me to edit the web page itself, rather than to a page where I can edit the Post Title, Post Body, and date/time/price/location. I need to find a way to get to the page where I can edit the post content.
A couple questions:
1) Is the method that we are using on our old website the most efficient way to post new classes? If not, what is a better way to do it?
2) If the old method is the most efficient way, how do I go about creating a Post page template that will allow me to edit the name, description, date, time, price, and location fields on the fly as we are doing on our old website? Once I have created the Post page template, how do I get to the page where I can edit the post itself rather than the web page?
Thank you!
