• Hi ! I’m currently using the theme Gazette from Automattic and I would like to thanks Automattic and his engineer for give it to us for free.

    But I would like to custom few things on this theme.

    First is changing the widget background color to white (#ffffff). I was not able to change it in the CSS file (style.css) because I don’t know where is it in the file.

    Second is to reduce the space between two widget in the sidebar. In my option I think it’s too large and take a lot of place for nothing. Can you tell me how and where in the CSS.

    Third is to change the sidebar width.

    This is my website in case you need to see it https://trendwrite.com. Again thank you very much for your time it’s really appreciate.

    Have a nice day & thanks again !
    Wali Ahmed

    *Sorry if I made any mistake, my primary language is French.

    And about the font size does anybody know how ? I would like to make it smaller.

    Hello! When adding/editing CSS, don’t edit the theme files directly, otherwise your changes will be overwritten every time the theme is updated to the latest version.

    An easy way to add custom CSS is to install the Jetpack plugin and activate the Custom CSS module. Then go to Appearance > Edit CSS and add your CSS there.

    (Alternatively, you could either install a standalone custom CSS plugin, or create a child theme.)

    I checked our your sidebar but saw that it’s white now, so maybe you are all done there?

    To adjust the spacing between widgets in the sidebar, you could add some CSS like this:

    .content-sidebar .widget {
         margin-top: 50px;

    (Change the 50 to a number that adjusts the size to what you like.)

    Let me know if you still need to make any adjustments and I’ll take a look!
