• The plugin CMS Tree Page View lets you put a treeview of pages and posts and custom post types on your dashboard. You can then drag them from one post type to another to convert them and organize them right from the dashboard. PROBLEM: I have a posts tree and a custom post type as well. I dragged a post (with its child posts) into the custom-post-type tree but only the parent post was moved and the child posts have vanished from the tree display. It turns out they are still just “posts” and never got converted into the custom post type (not a problem, I can do that manually) — the problem is that I have 16 posts and the CMT Tree View shows only 4. I have tried to uninstall the plugin and reinstall it but still the tree show 4 of my 16 posts. I have done a hard refresh and cleared my cache. I can’t figure out how to make the CMT Tree View refresh itself to mirror my actual list of posts with all 16. I’ve even tried a database cleaning plugin but still can only see 4 of my post in the tree view of the 16 I have.

This plugin is really very important for making WordPress content easy to organize. Can anyone suggest how to fix this?

  • You have three choices about the plugin itself. Either quit using it, fix it, or live with its broken limitations.

If you can’t fix it yourself then maybe you can hire someone to fix it. Or maybe reach out to the original authors and ask them to look at it. Think Inducement if you can find them. Starbucks, Paypal, beer, etc.

As to using it as is…

Nothing ventured – nothing gained. I’d move the few posts you see if I can do that using the plugin to move them and depending on my backups to bail; me out. Paper and pencil is in order if you need to keep notes. It’s possible the plugin will refresh itself better as you move the posts.

To change the posts types easily take a look at this plugin https://wpshout.com/quick-guides/change-post-type/ which should help you out with that task.
