• Good morning,
I’m a new user at WordPress, when I try to install a theme I always experience problems like this:

“There has been a serious error with your website. Please check your site administrator’s email inbox for guidance.”

When the theme is deleted via cpanel, the web can be opened again, but when trying to replace another theme install, you still experience the same problem. For a similar case, how do you solve it?

  • Hey @cameline, In this case, you should check a few things. For instance, the first thing that you should try is to deactivate all the plugins that you have on your site and then try to install the theme again, and if you were able to install the theme, then you have a code conflict in one of your plugins, so start to activate the plugins one by one, with this approach you can find the plugin that causes this problem. It would be much better if you first search about plugin and theme conflicts in WordPress.

    Hello @cameline

Errors like this are logged. Check the error log on your server. If you can’t find the log, please contact your host.

Meantime, enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log and after an error, look at wp-content/debug.log to see if anything gets logged there. https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/

You can also try this: Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you cannot access wp-admin, there are other ways to deactivate plugins.

    Thanks
