Need help upgrading from $12/yr. WP domain mapping to www.ads-software.com?

I think the simplest step-by-step method would be:

1. Set up an account with a new host
2. export the old blog
3. transfer the domain to the new host to point at the new hosting package. The new host should have documentation & provide advice on this
4. wait for DNS to propegate
5. install wordpress on the new host https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Installing_WordPress
6. import the xml export file
7. install a theme, plugins and set up your site how you want it

The good people at WordPress.com also provide this service as a paid upgrade which they call guided transfer.
