• I’m working on a new layout for my site right now, and I usually just work my way around this but I’m trying to improve my HTML so I need a fix for this.

Okay, so I’m trying to figure out, how do I put the author name and the date in the content headers? Examples; my site is here. As you can see, the post titles are simply the title, then the date shows up underneath. The only way the author is showing up is on the headers, which I had to manipulate into footers as well, and I just put my name on it. But my co-owner is going to start posting things soon as well as myself and I’d like it to show up separate authors, kinda like this (not mine).

As for the date, I’d just like to be able to put that in my post headers, like on this site (not mine). I’ve never been able to figure out how and my endless Google searching has got me nowhere. I’ve just recycled my codes and updated them if needed so they’re kinda messed up.

Basically I just need to know how to customize it. I’m trying to look at codes on other sites and comparing to mine but I just can’t figure it out. Thanks!

OH also I’m sure you noticed I’m using an outdated version of wordpress. How do I update without losing everything? I don’t know how to make a backup AT ALL and I don’t really know if I have computer space or anything….haha thanks again

  • Backing up is simples. Updating is important as otherwise your site might get hacked by bad people.

To add these bits of info you need to edit your theme. Specifically, you’ll need to add some little PHP tags like these. Read the codex thoroughly, all the info’s there.
