• For now, I’m using a template that I got from the WordPress CSS contest and the blockquotes aren’t formatting correctly. In FireFox, the text within the blockquote isn’t wrapping within the box, and in IE, the blockquote box isn’t staying within the body column.
    I’ve looked all over, and I can’t figure out how to fix it.
    Here’s an example:
    https://www.squoogy.com/bloggy/index.php?p=1245
    login: guest
    Pw: guestpw
    Also, when I imported from MT (TypePad actually), the special characters didn’t import very nicely. Is there a way to clean it up that doesn’t involve going into every post?
    Thank you for your help!!

  • I took a look at the css issue, but I really could not figure anything out.
    As for the special chars, set your wordpress blog to use the same character encoding as your movabletype blog. You can do that in the options page of the admin interface.

    I can’t find where the encoding option is on the admin interface. Could you point me to where it is?
    Thanks!

    I don’t think you can control the encoding from within the admin interface. But it shouldn’t be hard to fix. There should be a line near the top of your undex.php saying something like<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> (assuming you’re running WP1.2 beta). In MT blogs that I’ve seen, it’s usually charset= iso-8859-1. Check it out and if you find the charset in your new WP blog is different from your old MT blog, that’s probably the reason for your problem. Just edit index.php to make charset the same as in the old blog, and see if that works.

    options -> reading

    That is one very cool and beautiful looking site. Might I reccommend that we do not alter the charset in index.php? You have a p inside the blockquote for some reason. Hence it is overflowing.

    I think it’s beautiful too, that’s why I yoinked it from the WordPress design winners until I have more time to make something pretty of my own. :)~ It’s called “Human Condition”.
