Need help with editing custom page from dashboard

Hi,

I’m new to wordpress.

I’ve created a custom theme from my own markup created earlier. After that, I’ve created few pages with custom templates. Created a menu. Added link items. Successfully loaded the menu on header.php with little of .php code.

That what I’ve done so far since I’ve started learning WP.

What I need to do right now – to add a special custom menu items in admin area, to add some functionality so I can edit the content and some media files on the pages, which I’ve created from custom templates.

For example (just an example of what I want): I’ve a slider at home page. I want a menu item “Home Slider” in admin area, when I clicked on that menu, I want a page to come up that let me add new slider items (images) or change existing slider items, including slider captions texts.

So far, I’ve did many google bu cannot find any resource that helps me to achieve this.

Please suggest me tutorials and articles that teaches me to do what I want. Considering I’m a beginner in WP, I prefer beginners’ tutorials.

Please show me the “Path”. I’m confused!
