Need help with host name, username and password

  • I’m trying to upgrade to 3.1.3 and when I click update automatically I get a screen that ask for
    Hostname
    FTP Username
    FTP Password

    I put in the the ip address for hostname then for the FTP Username and password I put the username and password for my cpanel and click proceed and then I get a failed message.

    I tried downloading the updated wordpress through my public_html but that didn’t work either.

    Please anyone help I would be very grateful
