• Hiya,

I installed Aweber and set up a sign up form. Managed to get it on the page, but it is showing in the header instead of the sidebar.

I contacted Aweber support and asked how to move it to the sidebar, they said go under Appearances>>Widgets and then you can drag and drop it where you want.

Well, I cannot drag and drop it and Aweber support suggested to me to reach out to WP support, I should be able to drag and drop the form.

    Can anybody help, please?

  • You’re running WordPress 5.8.2, and the widget system has changed. You can still drag and group, but it’s a little different.

When you click on the Aweber widget (or any other widget/block), you should see UP and DOWN arrows as shown below (enclosed within rebeccapurple and red rectangles). Just click the arrows to move the widget up or down within the same section or widget area.

To move the widget/block to a different area (eg from header to right sidebar), hover over the 6-dots on the block toolbar, select and hold it, and drag it to the desired area.

Below is an official support article (with video and screenshots) that explains the new block-based widgets editor and how to use it:

I am having the same issue.

Thank you George – I managed to get 1 step further now.

I did not have the view of a view things you pointed out, I wished I could figure out how to add a screenshot…

Anyway, I managed to move the Aweber widget to Sidebar, then I go to Pages and select the page where I want it and insert the shortcode and guess what – it still shows up in the Header! Is there a setting I forgot to click on? Also, would it be possible to have that form on each webpage in the sidebar or do I have to do it manually page by page?

Please share a full-page screenshot of what you see. This forum does not support uploading files directly, but you can upload your screenshot to https://snipboard.io/ and share the link here.

Also, what theme are you using?

    Standing by.

    Hi George,

Snipboard is great! Thank you. I took a SS

    https://snipboard.io/L4hJxF.jpg

It shows you my view, quite a few things are hidden. I have no idea why.

    Then Theme is flatsome.

I hope it gives you a few clues…

    Thanks for the screenshot.

It seems there’s a theme or plugin conflict.

To isolate the culprit, you’ll need to deactivate all your plugins and switch to one of the default themes. If the problem is not in WordPress itself, then the problem should be gone after doing this. Then you’d enable your actual theme and plugins, but one after the other, until the problem re-appears. Then the last plugin activated should be the culprit.

You can do this discreetly behind the scenes (just for your admin session) without affecting your public website.

Install and activate the official “Health Check & Troubleshooting” plugin from your WordPress dashboard. Then go to TOOLS => SITE HEALTH => TROUBLESHOOTING and follow the on-screen instructions.

    Standing by for feedback.

If the site in question is the one in your user profile, then I’ll advise you to upgrade your Flatsome theme.

You’re running version 3.8.3 of the Flatsome theme with the latest version of WordPress (5.8.2).

The latest version of the Flatsome theme is 3.15.2, but support for WordPress 5.8 was introduced way back in version 3.14.0 of the theme.

So you’re now running an older version of your theme that has known incompatibilities with the latest version of WordPress you’re running, hence my recommendation to upgrade the theme.

It sounds I’m screwed – our web designer left us and I do not have the purchase code for flatsome ??
