Need help with putting ADs in my posts please

  • So i’m looking to put little banner ads in the middle of some of my posts or wherever i want, i referred to this guide here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhegR-xmAps

    But when he went to his theme functions.php file, the bottom of his file was blank so he could do whatever he wanted in my understanding (im still a beginner) and the last time i edited a functions file i ended up crashing my site and gave me a headache.

    there’s this random line of text saying social customization options ends here, i dont know whats that all about (again, im a beginner) so i was afraid to edit it without proper consultation from professionals. Is there another way i could easily put ads into my posts? Maybe a plugin? Or could i use that video guide and you guys could tell me where to start putting the code like he does in the video. Thanks

  • Do you have a child theme set up? It is best to create a child theme and edit the CSS and PHP in this rather than the main theme, as updates will often overwrite your code.

    The social customization line is a comment from the person who wrote the code. Developers often use these types of comments to note where sections of code begin and end. It has no effect on your site, but it’s a good idea to keep it in there for your own reference. You can begin adding the custom code below that line.

    Possibly a better (easier) solution would be the Simple Adsense Insertion plugin found here.
