I created a blog for someone who used to have wordpress.com blog. They would like the same stats to appear now on their new www.ads-software.com blog, but I can’t seem to get them to work correctly. I have gotten Google Analytics to work perfectly for her, but she still wants the stats like she had on wordpress.com.

    Here is what’s happening:
I installed wordpress.com stats on her www.ads-software.com blog, but it is still reading stats from her wordpress.com blog.

Should these stats work for www.ads-software.com?
Do I need to deactivate her wordpress.com blog for them to work?

I am new at this (probably pretty obvious) and any help you can give me would be great!

Thank you for your answer. I search for that on Google, and it just gives me the wordpress.com blog stats plug-in. I already have that installed, and it is not working properly as it is reading the stats from her other blog, which is on wordpress.com. Any other ideas?

When you enter the API it usually gives you the option to add the blog, or take over the stats…..you weren’t given the option to add?

Well, something just must be wrong because when I look at the WPSD, and look under “Server Check” it says “Stats Plug-in Not Installed.”

Then if I click on it to install, it gives me these directions:

    1. Create a stats directory in your plugins directory. Typically that’s wp-content/plugins/stats/.
    2. Into this new directory upload stats.php and open-flash-chart.swf.
    3. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
    4. It will ask you to enter your WordPress.com API key, do so.
    5. Sit back and wait a few minutes for your stats to come rolling in.

I have done ALL of these things, but it still says “Stats Plug-in Not Installed.” Maybe I should deactivate and uninstall, and try again?

I have the pluggin installed on a master site, which I use to replicate on another blog I set up…One of the pluggins i love to use is the Wp stats..But when the new blog is set up, it continues registering data from the old blog…How do I fix this, so that its only registering from the new blog i added it to??? and if it cant be fixed, how do i take it out of the master site, so as not to leave any left over code or pages that might affect the new installation on the new site. Thanks

I went ahead and deactivated and uninstalled and started over. It seems to be working now, I must have just messed something up the first time around. Thanks everyone!
