Need Hero image to overwrite Feature Image in Post Header

    Hello,

    For my blog posts I wish to add a feature image to show as a thumbnail image only on a Recent Post excerpt on my home page, sidebar, etc.

    However, when I click into the post it show the very top of the thumbnail image and stretches/expands it across the entire header/hero image area.

    Is there a way to overwrite this featured image so that my selected hero image will overwrite this thumbnail image and show in the header/hero image area still when viewing the post page?
