    Hi,

I am writing to you because I am creating my very first e-commerce and before proceeding I need some info about some plugins (preferably free) to use:

I just installed WooCommerce on https://www.centromegarisparmio.it/ and at the moment I have only added JetPack (which I have yet to configure)

But I have the following doubts:

    1) Is there a native function or a native plugin of Woocommerce to allow users to register and log in? I was not able to find It…

    2) When I manually enter a new product, it is automatically placed in the “uncategorized” category. Is it possible to avoid it? It would be more convenient if no categories were assigned automatically …

    3) I also have a curiosity about the SKU code. How is it generated? Is there a special plugin?

Don’t be afraid when you see the page: it’s all being tested XD

    Thanks to all.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello @gianlucacorsini,

Thanks for your questions and good luck with your first WooCommerce store!

Is there a native function or a native plugin of Woocommerce to allow users to register and log in? I was not able to find It

Within WooCommerce you can create the “My Account” page in order to let customers register or log in to their accounts. Find more details here:

    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-pages/
    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/getting-started/the-my-account-page/

When I manually enter a new product, it is automatically placed in the “uncategorized” category. Is it possible to avoid it? It would be more convenient if no categories were assigned automatically

When you create a new product from WordPress Dashboard > Products > Add New you can select a category in the tab on the right side of the page.

Every product must be assigned to a category, and by default, WooCommerce has a product category named “Uncategorized” which can’t be deleted and it will be assigned automatically to your product if no other product category has been selected.

Although you cannot delete the default category “Uncategorized” you can rename it: https://aspengrovestudios.com/how-to-remove-the-uncategorized-category-from-wordpress/.

I also have a curiosity about the SKU code. How is it generated? Is there a special plugin?

SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) is used to track products. SKU is an identification, usually alphanumeric, of a particular product that allows it to be tracked for inventory purposes. You can add an SKU value to each one of your products in order to differentiate from other products.

We have extensive documentation to get started with WooCommerce. Feel free to take a look here:

    https://docs.woocommerce.com/

    Hope this helps.

    Hello @rainfallnixfig

Thanks to your answer! Great, it’s not difficult.
    I have another question:

When I add a product to my ecommerce I have only 3 statuses available: available, out of stock and backorder.

These states can be changed manually.

Is there an option or a plugin that allows me to insert (for example) 10 units or more of the same product, so that after the tenth order the product goes “automatically” to “out of stock”?

    Thanks again!

    Hey @gianlucacorsini,

Thanks for getting back and I apologize for my delay in replying to your question.

Is there an option or a plugin that allows me to insert (for example) 10 units or more of the same product, so that after the tenth order the product goes “automatically” to “out of stock”?

You may want to set the Out of stock threshold number to zero under WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Inventory:

When product stock reaches zero (i.e. all 10 products have been sold) the stock status will change to “Out of stock” automatically and you will be notified via email.
