• Hi,

whenever I’m trying to save a draft or publish a post with editor role I can’t.
I get a blank screen and error message: Need more rights.

I tried user role editor plugin and saw that the capability to create posts was not turned on. After turning it on I still get the blank screen but after going back I can see that the draft is actually saved.

Editors need more than create_posts capability to publish. At least publish_posts and edit_posts as well. See the Codex for a complete list of default editor capabilities.

So you’re saying that the ‘Editor’ role doesn’t work out the box?

What I’ve meant is that every capability had been checked except the ‘Create posts’. So I thought this might have caused the corresponding error.

However, even though every capability is checked I still get the blank screen.

Oh, it works just fine out of the box. But there’s something wrong with your version. I was just providing a reference against which you can check your version for flaws.

You could be experiencing a theme or plugin conflict. Please install and activate the health-check plugin. (Yes, there are many bad reviews. People don’t understand how it works and wrongly think it broke their site) Enter troubleshooting mode in health-check. Does the editor role function correctly? It should, indicating there was a plugin or theme conflict. You can isolate which by selectively reactivating plugins through the troubleshooting item in the admin bar.

Because role and capability configurations are persistent, it may be beyond the health-check’s ability to experimentally remove the conflict for troubleshooting.
