• Hi,

Mobile applications are very helpful for just Blogs, for those who understand the ranking on Google definitely need more SEO optimization

This application is not like opening the post editor dashboard via the website.

Especially plugins no one can work.

But, can the application development team add a little Add ALT image feature to the uploaded featured post image?

I see, I can only upload featured images and there is no option to add captions even ALT images, as simple as that unthinkable by developers?

For images in posts there is already this feature, but for featured images why not add them all?

The alt attribute value for featured images can be set when you edit the image via the media library.

If the value you’ve set here isn’t showing up in your featured image HTML tags, your theme is using an alternative method of displaying featured images besides the usual the_post_thumbnail(); or it or a plugin is altering the default attributes used via a filter hook. Try switching to a default Twenty* theme to see the alt attribute you’ve set. If still nothing, one of your plugins is altering things.

The way to correct the problem depends on how the usual attribute value is being suppressed.

    Hi @ngorbit

Thanks for flagging this. Better support for alt text (and other SEO techniques) for self-hosted WordPress sites is something the mobile team would like look in to at some point.

Speaking specifically to supporting alt text, the mobile apps are limited by what is supported in the WordPress XML-RPC API and currently there are?some challenges?supporting?alt text?on images.?

One work around would be to install the Jetpack plugin on your site. This would let the app use the WordPress.com REST API instead of the XML-RPC API. The WordPress.com REST API does not have the alt text limitation that the XML-RPC API does.

Otherwise, @bcworkz’s suggestion to add the alt text via the media library in the web admin is currently the best approach as far as I know. At least for the time being.

    Hope this helps!
