I’m new to wordpress so please bear with me.

I want to create a large complicated blog post on malware removal techniques with video clips. I have wp 4.1.5 with a woo theme.

I’m afraid that what I want to do may be too big to do as a blog post. I would like the post to be laid out with an overview then a hyperlinked table of contents followed by the contents. There will be roughly 20-30 video clips and sections.

Is a blog post a suitable way to do this or should I create pages to handle this?

    TIA

  • How about a blog category called “Malware Removal Techniques” with a series of blog entries for each individual topic that would have been in your ToC? You could then use the category page as the ToC by creating a link to it somewhere on the site, or use the blog category widget, etc.

That’s a way I could go. Would this mean I have to have a separate blog article for each subtopic such Cleaning up IE, Cleaning up Firefox, Cleaning up Chrome? Between two videos it’s 47 minutes of stuff broken down into a fair number of topics.

These videos are for Win 7 and earlier. The next set is for Win 8/8.1 and then Win 10. They are geared towards novice users showing step-by-step what to do. It’s a lot of topics and sub-topics that I want to break down into easily referenced video clips with more written detail on the particular item.

The overview where you just watch the two videos is easy enough to do. It’s this toc and content items I can’t get my head around using a blog. I suppose I could do this as pages on the site.

I would recommend having long posts. In that way it can help you rank more. You have to make it wikipedia style with link shortcuts.

Although a long post may be beneficial to search engine ranking, I would recommend to write/create for users first and foremost, not for search engines.

After doing a bunch of research, I decided to create the guide as several pages and then reference it in a blog post. With the layout I needed and >30 video clips it made the most sense.

Thanks to everyone for their input!
