    Have you looked at Google’s resources for SEO? They’d be the best to turn to https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/35291?hl=en .

    Can someone please tell me if there is anything obvious I can fix?

    Don’t put text in images, use text in HTML instead.

    I would also like to make my theme more ‘travel related’. Can someone help me with this?

    What do you mean specifically?

    I am not that savvy with SEO but to make your site more travel related, you might change the domain name and the tag line to something more vague. Include graphics that are geared towards general travel instead of South Africa. Just a start. Your site looks great.
