• Hello Support,

My apologies as I am not sure whether to put this question.
I am trying to update the author of a blog which is posted last year, though I am not able to update the author. Somehow I am getting the same author after updating.

However, I am able to update the author of the latest post.
Any guidance on this would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

  • Hi there,

You need to go into this single post and change the author.

You could also delete the user, and it will ask you to transfer everything to your new user.

I tried that. I am able to update the author of latest post but not able to update the author for post posted a year ago.

Please try purging your website cache. Maybe that can fix it.

Are you using some kind of page builder?

I tried that too and yes I am using beaver builder. Even after disabling all plugin including beaver builder, the author is not getting updated.

Ok. Have you tried changing your theme as well?

If it is not on your theme, so your best option may be contacting your hosting provider as well as they will be able to look into your files and see what is going on there.

Any errors in your websites error log or when doing so?
Maybe the user you are trying it with does not have all permissions.

Or try changing via the database. In your wp_posts table locate post_author column with the user_id in it and edit this. Take a backup of your database before making changes.

@gilbertank But in case the user has not the permissions, so the option to update wouldn’t even show up, right?

Changing the database would work, but it wouldn’t fix the bug.

@gilbertank I am not getting any error in console. And the user I am using has administrative rights.

Have you disabled your cache plugin? Please make sure that you have purged your cache before disabling it.

@felipeloureirosantos I tried after disabling all the plugins installed, but no result remains the same.

@sumitchhn, View the source code of your page and look for this bit of information (right click and press ‘View source’).

Until you stop seeing that, your page is still cached and you need to find a way to purge and then disable that plugin.

@anevins I tried the solution, however the result is same, author still not updated.
