Need the proper dimensions for the site logo in the header

you can upload your logo 2x the size you need for the desktop version of your site. In png format. And WordPress will automatically generates all the image-size needed. It uses modern html img-srg attributes to handled it.

Okay. Twice as large as the final size… which is what, up to me? In most online profile images there is a standard size, be it for LinkedIn or Twitter or Facebook or Substack. These companies give you an aspect ratio or say something like no smaller than XX pixels, or no file size bigger than XX mb. They also will usually say to use 72 dpi at 100% and suggest it be in the RGB color space. I can make guesstimates on what will work, but as an example when I put my landscape logo into the image container in the header template, it overwrote the square version I had put into my media library which was meant to show next to the url in the address bar. I guess that was a mistake I made, but I kinda don’t think it actually was..

Well… I don’t know the design of your site… it’s totally up to your design to have a big or a small logo. Website don’t have standard dimensions for logos and brand identity. Socials and other services are a completely different thing. They are sticked to their design and line guides written by the designers of the site.

So the dimension (100px, 180px, 230px) its totally up to you and your project. Of course since it is web and not print context, 72dpi is the correct setting to have a good enough quality and weight.

You say you don’t know my website, but this Forum requires one provide a link to the page in question.

Then you say you neither have nor can provide standard dimensions, but when one uses the Wonder header template which I have, it actually inserts an empty image box which I can only assume you are meant to load your logo into.

And you say go on to say that “socials and other services are a completely different thing” when they are, in fact, always websites just the same.

Further, you write that “of course” the file should be at 72 dpi, but in your first response you told me to upload at 200% which makes no sense because that would only need to be done if you expected the image to be resized, and when some websites do that, the resolution can be altered, which means the dpi is not necessarily a given.

But I didn’t come in here to debate you or get into a nonsensical argument over semantics. The answer is really that it is up to me, and I get that, so I’ll close this thread now. Sorry to bother you and waste both of our time.
