• Hello,

This is my first post on here so go easy on me!

I have recently installed wordpress and enabled the multisite funtion as I want to build a few websites using it.

My problem is when I try and add the site to the domain that I have been asked to build a site for (are-consulting.co.uk) I get “Missing or invalid site address.”

It is true I am really not an expert at this but I see that it says “Only the characters a-z and 0-9 recommended.”

The hosting is at the-webb.co.uk and is hosted by 123-reg.co.uk

    What can I do?

You can edit the site name manually after the fact. If you do that, I would name it siteXname, and then go in to network admin -> sites and edit the site. There’s a check box to edit both siteURL and home URL, check that box and hit save.

If you need end users to be able to use the hyphen, then you need a plugin.

I have tried this but I am still getting “Missing or invalid site address.”

Am I missing something really obvious?

Thanks so much for the help by the way!

Where do you get that error? If I go to are-consulting.co.uk I see an error 500.

Doesn’t look like the DNS is set up correctly. The A records for that domain point to 94.136.40.103 which appears to be a holding site for 123-reg. So I’m guessing it isn’t even hitting WordPress yet?
