Need to Allow Multiple Users with One Email – Workaround?

    Hoping there are some half-elves lurking about here in the forest of confusion.

    I need to be able to “allow” multiple users to register with the same email address.
    Basically, the users are not aware that they are creating a user account, just opting in. But I’m using the user functionality to trigger some “other” actions (posting data to a CRM system ….etc).

    I’ve tried the plugin- “Allow Multiple Accounts” – but seem to not be working with WP4.x.

    Maybe some way to “ignore” the error….or perhaps some function to “Add OR Update” a user if the email is already in use???

    Any thoughts on a workaround etc???

    (BTW, I’m using Gravity Forms with “Create User” add on).

    Answer: Not a multisite thing so much as WP one and why do you want to do that anyway?

    You’d totally mess up anyone who wants a password reset.

    I’ve actually solved the issue another way….BUT I have another project this will be useful for.

    The reason is, that the user really doesn’t know they are creating a user account, nor will they ever have to “log in” per se. (and thereby never need to recover PW etc….)

    I’m using the “create user” function because I’m not a coder, and am using the action to trigger a couple other plug ins. (I’m sure there’d be an easier way to build something from scratch…but I’ve got the rest cobbled together…heh).

    Anyway….allowing someone to “opt in” more than once is important for this use case.

    As a tin-foil hat wearing security nerd, I think that’s incredibly weird and not a good idea. It makes a lot of checks easy to exploit and get access to other sites.
