• I need to update a link and the year in the footer text for this site: https://www.familycaregiversbc.ca/

I can’t find a footer.php file in the child theme, and there doesn’t appear to be a widget. I didn’t develop this site, just taking over to update. Is it possible the developer hid this area?

I installed Genesis Simple Edits plugin to try to override the footer text settings, but it’s not working. Any help appreciated!

  • Hello there,

If you use a commercial theme or plugin and need support, please go to their official support channel. In order to be good stewards of the WordPress community, and encourage innovation and progress, we feel it’s important to direct people to those official locations.

Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why your commercial theme or plugin is not working properly. This is one other reason why volunteers forward you to the commercial product’s vendors. The vendors are responsible for supporting their commercial product.

That being said, a child theme doesn’t need to copy all of the parent theme’s files in order to work, the footer file should be there in the parent files.

    Hope that helps,
    Sage

    Hello @rikkiayers,
There might a possibility that there is any child theme activated on your site. If its so, you can simply go into the parent theme folder, where you’ll find ‘footer.php’, just copy the file and paste it in the child theme directory. Now you can easily edit any text that you want to in the file.

    Hope this helps.
