Need to install plugins; sftp not presented as option for download

  • Hello:

    Due to some plugin/security problems, I had to remove my installation and re-install the latest WordPress version. Right now, the only two plugins that are present are Akismet and “Hello Dolly”. The latter is not running.

    My ISP needs me to use SFTP to install wordpress plugins. The trouble is, I am only presented with FTP in the installation dialogue. The error I get is:
    Failed to connect to FTP Server www.xxxxx.com:21

    Has the ability to use SFTP been removed from WordPress? If not, how do I get that option back?
