• For some reason the total configuration of a menu is stored in my system. I cannot edit or create a new menu, the configuration always defaults to the one stored. I tried delete from the main mega menu page, I purged my Cache and database with a plugin. I totally deleted Mega Menu, re-installed it and it still has the menu config stored the first time.

I even tried importing a menu config from a good working website and selecting it for my primary menu and NADA. I always revert to the menu config that seems to be stored somewhere in my system.

Please help, I really need this.

    Thank you

    Hi chuckkidd,

This sounds more like a server issue than a plugin one. I would first log into your hosting control panel and see if there is a purge cache option in there.

If you completely disable Max Mega Menu, do changes to your menu structure get saved correctly?

    Hi Tom,

Yes I purged everything Server, Database, WordPress etc.

If I deactivate Max Mega, even if I uninstall it the Configuration that was used does not go away if I reinstall Max Menu. Now obviously if I uninstall or deactivate Max Menu my menu reverts to the basic Theme menu default and works correctly.

So now when I reinstall and activate Max Menu the last Configuration is applied but cannot be modified, nor can I create a new Menu Configuration and apply it to my menu. The Configuration that loaded by default will not go away. I will be happy to give you admin access to see for your self if you want. Just give me an email and I will send the credentials.

    Thank, Chuck

    Hi Chuck,

Are you using any caching or CSS minification plugins?

Please could you clarify what you mean by “Menu Configuration” – are you adjusting the settings under Appearance > Menus > Max Mega Menu Settings? Which setting are you trying to change exactly?

There is an option under Mega Menu > Tools to delete all of the MMM data which would let you start over (take a database backup first!)

OK Tom, I solved it but it makes absolutely no sense.

As I said before I purged EVERY DAMN THING THAT COULD BE PURGED.

By Menu Configuration I mean basic setting like menu height, flyout background or width. Just any basic setting in Menu Settings. No matter what I changed and saved, nothing actually changed on the live menu.

The option under Mega Menu > Tools to delete all of the MMM data…Been there tried that multiple times.

NOW TO WHAT I FOUND… I decided to deactivate all plugins except Max Mega. When I did this I could configure a brand new menu that worked perfectly.

Soooooo I brought the other plugins back to active 1 at a time. Checked the menu by doing changes and all worked until I ACTIVATED (drum roll please) Duplicator – WordPress Migration Plugin. As soon as I activated it and checked the menu it had reverted back to the old BAD configuration and I could not change a thing in the menu. The problem was back.

Deactivated Duplicator – WordPress Migration Plugin and Max Menu works great. Brought all the rest of my plugins back to active 1 at a time with no further problems.

I used Duplicator – WordPress Migration Plugin one time to Migrate my site to a new server and that obviously required making a clone or backup. So my site was transferred successfully but it seems it for some crazy reason it didn’t like the Max Mega data.

I really can’t explain it. Here is the Author website of the Duplicator – WordPress Migration Plugin https://snapcreek.com/duplicator/duplicator-free/

At least I am good to go again after hours of research. Hope this helps you and anyone else that uses both plugins.

    Thanks… Chuck

    Hi Chuck,

Glad to hear you got to the bottom of that. I agree and also have no idea why Duplicator would be the cause of the problem here, that doesn’t make much sense! Usually these sort of problems are due to caching plugins.

I’m glad to hear you got to the bottom of it, and that’s another bit of information I’ll store up just in case I come across this issue again in the future.

    Regards,
    Tom
