• I am looking to create posts that have information on the page before anyone can edit the page. The best way to explain it is to show you the site, still in the working stage as you can tell from the lack of design.

What you see is the information that I need to be permanent (non-editable)format. Basically all the homeowners will be able to log into their post only and answer the form and make changes at will. At the moment, they can wreck the layout and the verbiage.

I presume that the same way that links show up on the sidebar when you do an install would have something to do with where and how I could add the verbiage that I need to the page.

I also considered a contact form, but I would need the form to POST to the site not sent in an email.

If this doesn’t make sense to anyone please say something as I would like to go live next week!

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I look forward to your replies.

  • You would need to add your permanent text to your theme’s single.php template.

    Thanks esmi!

I was so excited that I stopped what i was doing to update the single.php template.

However I need each person to be able to edit their own page and either I need to change the security or I have to try something else.

I forgot to say that this is for a community in which 30+ will be filling out these pages.

Not sure what I should do now!

That’s not quite what you originally asked about. You’re getting into user management here – not template development, so you might want to look at some role management plugins like Role Scoper.

Looking at Role Scoper now…but I still need the page to have un-editable sections to it as per my first post. Thank you so much for giving me something to work with, will post back when I am done reading.

esmi…so after looking at Role Scoper, I think you were saying if I install that, then I will be able to use what you said earlier about modifying the single.php page.

Basically mod single.php as I have done and then use this module so each person can modify their own post which is exactly the same due to me changing the single.php page?

    Thanks,

    Alex

Yes – that’s pretty much it.
