needing some plugins…

  • well im running a joke site located Here now i got a ‘subscribe’ plugin (and it works great ?? now that i know how to use it :P)

    but i am in need of some more plugins,

    1st one, is something to ‘block’ a certain category from ‘PUBLIC’ eyes, (some jokes on my site DO contain profanity, how ever i would like it so that you do NOT see this unless you are A registered and B born before X date, or hit a ‘confirm age’ button, ((this is to keep bad jokes away from little kiddies ?? )) )

    2nd one is something for a ‘random joke’ (it would be a page / link that will take you to a ‘RANDOM’ entry….)

    3rd one is some sort of user submission, user submits a joke, witch is automatically added to the site, how ever…. it would be placed in a category called ‘awaiting administrator verification’ (this is to stop duplicate jokes, or really dumb ones, or people that cant spell ((so we can correct spelling mistakes)) )

    4th one (now this is more like a question) does WP support embedded videos from google / youtube?

    i have searched the plugin’s page for what im looking for but no luck =( so im hoping someone will have an answer for me ??

    BUT heres the thing

    i asked because >>I<< could NOT find what i am looking for, so i decided to ask users in the community that might have one, or know something that could do what im looking for…

    in other words, ‘google’ doesn’t work to well

    i have tried google, tried looking on this site (using words i think may have worked, but like i said in my original post, my search didnt work)

    I’m sure we’ve replied to each other’s posts before, if I remember correctly- it was another thread asking for almost the same plugins, why not just continue it?

    What sort of phrases are you using to search on google? I find it extremely hard to search for plugins in the WP directory sometimes because I don’t think it’s quite as intuitive.

    Anyway, I think I already made suggestions in your other thread about part one, and for number two, you would need to be MORE flexible about the search phrases. Something like a ‘random quote’ or ‘random post’ plugin would probably yield more results than ‘random joke’.

    And for the videos, there are quite a number of plugins that support embedding of Youtube videos (I have no idea about google ones) For a start: I put in Youtube in the search box of the plugin directory and got this.

    1 and 3 are the only ones i cant find after searching for a few hours >.<

    I think I did suggest looking into WP-Sentry in your other thread? Otherwise, you could potentially look at e.g. Role Scoper, but the latter has quite a learning curve, but seems to be very powerful.

    I am surprised you couldn’t find anything for 3 even after clicking on this (see previous post)????

    best part was when i read.. ‘If you use WordPress as a CMS and publish content like jokes, poems, text messages, lyrics, then you might have this question all the time while creating a new post.

    hi again I thought I’d come back to your post as I remember you saying about You Tube. I think one of the best, and certainly the easiest is this plugin.

    once activated you simply add the url from the video you want to your post/page and change the http to httpv

    for the Adult content protection.. maybe figure out a way to use password protected posts. There is also a plugin out there that will password protect an entire blog.. so maybe put the adult content on a second installation of wordpress on a sub domain and use the pass protect plugin for this second site.
