It wasn’t a misleading offer at all, it was clear in what the notice was saying, you just personally misread it (and no one else has had any issues with it).

Rating as 1 star isn’t fair due to a misunderstanding of an admin notice

    needs to learn customer service

You are the user of free software, you are not the plugin author’s customer and please do not pretend that you are.

Users of free software are not customers. Different relationship entirely.

why do plug ins off free versions? to convert to paying customers. A person using your free version is no different to a person browsing around your shop. do you give them bad service until they buy something? no you treat them well to convert them to a paying customer. so no its not a different relationship. you treat everyone like a paying customer so they become one. I have spend a lot of money on plugins over the years so you never know who is going to turn into a buyer and who is not so you should treat everyone as a paying customer

case and point on the customer service. i posted this review over a month ago and your only responding now.

Some times. I’ve not done an analysis, but I would guestimate that only 1 out of 8 plugins fit your description. Probably much less than that.

no you treat them well to convert them to a paying customer. so no its not a different relationship.

That’s completely wrong and you are mis-categorizing your relationship with authors who put plugins in the WordPress repo for free.

With a customer the author has a responsibility to that customer, they paid for something. That typically includes support and possibly upgrades but that’s all in the purchase agreement.

The plugins, themes and code here are all a gift. The authors owe you nothing, not support, not a reply, nor do they need to agree with you. It’s nice when they do those things but there has never been an obligation on their part to do that.

Authors do have a responsibility to release good code but that’s to the community and it’s still not a customer relationship.

You and anyone can leave a 1 star review but be aware: other users read these too and can weigh the value of your review. You left a bad review without attempting to work with the author. That alone says a lot.

If you wish to be productive then perhaps you want to give these a read.

that is a load of b$$$, the author has a product for sale. when a salesman takes that attitude they will not make any sales. i have every right to rate it based on my experience. I did try to work with the author, explained i have many sites and spend a good amount of money on plugins. he/she was flat out rude. If you walked into any store and they were arrogant and rude to you just cause you had not bought anything YET you would be angry at them and thats what happened here.

go ask anyone in sales ( and yes the author is in sales by having a product for sale) if their method is to treat potential customers badly until they become customers and they you start being nice. just cause you are a mod. does not make what you are saying true. you want sales you have to treat potential customer with respect or they will not become a paying customer and leave a bad reviews. How can you possibly be saying the author has the right to treat some one who had every intention of buying the product like garbage yet that same person has no right to leave a bad feedback. Ask anyone in sales, a car salesman, a retail salesman or any kind of salesman when you start treating a person like a customer and they will tell you the second they walk in the door. downloading and trying the free version OF A PRODUCT FOR SALE is the wordpress version of walking into their store. you want to make sales you have to treat people with honor and respect

We certainly were not rude and you didn’t work with us to resolve an issue with the plugin. You were demanding a free copy of the PRO version when you had mis-read a notice that mentioned free VIP membership and discounts on the Add-ons (a general advertisement for a different service offered by us).

There’s no point arguing about this and thanks @jan for replying on our behalf.

    I had the same experience!!!
The dude totally mislead me, and then never fixed all of the bugs that were promised to be fixed. Instead he just keeps making more new crap and leaving the prices unfixed. Very strange biz model.

mike your response time is a testament to your customer service, my last comment was two months before you responded and the first time it took you a month to respond. not going to fight with you anymore. but i will say one more thing 24hrs is a good response time not one and two months.
