    Hi there,

I’m not seeing any issue with Jetpack-generated sitemaps (I also verified by checking sitemap in some sitemap checker tools). Did you try to remove the sitemap and re-index it in Google Search Console?

Also, did you try Bing Webmaster Tools or Yandex to index sitemap? Are you getting the same error there too?

Removing and re adding didn’t work. This showed up months ago. Image sitemap doesn’t work in any of the site we have.

Dont mind if works on bing, because 99% of the traffic comes form google.
Why you use index inside index?

Read google answer and fix it pls

Its sitemap indexes can't nest. A sitemap-index contains references to sitemaps.

    A sitemap-index can't contain references to other sitemap-indexes.

Can submit multipel sitemap indexes to Google, so submit the indexes directly, rather than via another index.

    Hi @ecommonist

    I looked at your sitemap:

    https://simracer.es/wp-sitemap.xml

and it isn’t generated by Jetpack. A Jetpack generated sitemap will look like this and will be available at sitemap.xml:

    https://jetpack.com/sitemap.xml

It looks like another plugin that you have installed is generating your sitemap. You can try disabling that functionality and then enable Jetpack’s sitemap feature. Otherwise, you will need to contact the developers of that functionality for further assistance.

We have changed to wp core sitemap while you answer us. Apparently a sitemap on GSC takes until 3 days to register pages and post, so cannot lose time after notify this.

I pasted you what you can and what you cannot do to generat sitemaps compatible with GCS. WP core sitemaps and rest of the third part plugins are working like that, why Jetpack no? Please fix it.

    Hi there

This is a known issue for sites with a large number of posts. I’ve added your report to our open Github issue, so you can follow along there if you’d like to be notified when there are any updates on this issue:
