• I have 2 WordPress blogs hosted on 2 separate Network Solutions accounts. One was hacked with the virus on April 12 and restored by NS. The other was NOT hacked and was running fine. Now both have the dreaded box with red X when I try to load photos through the Media area of the administration panel. I checked CHAR settings for the Uploads directories: 771. I looked at the Uploads directories and the new photos are in the directories on the server. The weird thing is that all my old photos still show in the blog posts and in the Media Library. I just can’t upload anything new and new photos are red X boxes in the Media Library. No problems on any other sites on different hosts. ARGH!!! Help!

  • Have you checked the uploads path in Settings/Miscellaneous?

I tried this after posting to the WP Forum. Uploads path was blank by default with a comment that “Default is wp-content/uploads”. The Default is correct. I event tried adding the path to the blank field… still no luck. The box next to Organize… is checked. The Full URL and Tracks boxes are both blank. I’ve had WP 2.9.2 for weeks on these sites. We’ve made no plugin updates.

I had the same exact problem today. I logged into my network solutions account and on the ftp manage page I clicked reset file permissions and now everything is fine.

Thank you Kac14 I had the same problem until I came across your advice.

We had the exact same problem and this worked for us too. Our experience with Network Solutions has totally sucked. Should’ve stuck with GoDaddy.
