    Hi, lovely forum,

I would like to have a network-wide activity Stream with links to the subpages.

    Background
I have a multisite with a small Buddypress Comunity in its center (visionaut.de) – we call it Dorfplatz (village square). Each of the 15 members will have their own subpage to prototype and show their projects (project-a.visionaut.de). I want them to support each other and hence it would be really cool to have a Networkwide Activity Stream on the Dorfplatz. Especially if they blog on their subpage. They have 3 different blogs, one for the public, a garage-blog for their external team and a private personal development blog just for the Buddypress members. I created different custom post types for this (with toolset) and manage the visibility with AAM.

    What I′d like to see
I would like to see on the Dorfplatz if anything interesting happened (like a new blog post on a sub-site). Ideally, users can adjust email-notifications (get notified weekly/daily/right away) for each sub-page individually. If posts are synchronized in some way, comments should be synchronized to. But I am also happy if the posts are read and commented directly on the subpage as long as users learn about the new post directly on the Dorfplatz.

    What I tried so far

    • I installed Multisite Post Duplicator Version 1.7.6. Unfortunately, they don’t support subdomain configurations at this time and I could not get the Plugin to duplicate automatically.
    • I installed Stream Version 3.2.3, but to make this Plugin display an activity stream in the front end does not belong to the core of the plugin and is way beyond my capability.

Do you have an idea for a different plugin or solution for this?
Thanks a lot for any help!

    Best Boris

You might look at RSS feeds. If they are set up properly you’ll get a snippet of the content and a link back to the origin site. That works pretty good for bringing in content while not taking over the blog with the outside posts.

You can set the feeds to output the full posts if you wish but then that takes the reason for the viewer to visit the donor site ‘to read more’ away.

I use Feed WordPress for doing that myself on the recipient side with the FwP: limit posts by date plugin added to expire the imported posts in 60 days to keep the number of articles down to a reasonable number.

    Dear JNash Hawkins,

what a simple and beautiful idea! I can just shake my head about not thinking of it myself. I will give it a go right away.
Thank you so much for pushing me in this direction.

    Best
    Boris
