Hello. I have Neve installed but 2 of the Neve theme panels are failing to resolve so I cannot adjust any of the theme options.

I checked the error log – there is one in the wp-admin folder and it has the following line in it:

[30-Mar-2024 02:23:06 UTC] PHP Warning: copy(/home/cpaneluser/public_html/wp-content/upgrade-temp-backup/themes/neve/style.css): Failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/cpaneluser/public_html/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-direct.php on line 309

(I replaced the real cpanel username with “cpaneluser”)

Here is a link to the screenshot of one of the panels:

There is no error log in the public_html folder. The host is running php 8.1, wp memory is set at 256M, Max Input Vars at 8000 and all php libraries are installed. WP 2024 and other custom themes (incl some Envato themes) all work fine.

The host has some custom code in the .htaccess for security, but even if all is removed, and all plugins are disabled the 2 Neve panels do not work.

I tried uninstalling the theme, and reinstalling it. The host installed the theme in one of their many construction sites with the exact same /php/.htaccess and wp config settings and it worked fine. But when they activated the theme they got a welcome message, whereas when I uninstalled it and reinstalled it I did not get the welcome message – so I think a trigger once query is fulfilled in mysql.

I have no issues providing WP and Cpanel admins to your team.

    Hi @maxcom,

Thank you for sharing such a detailed report of the issue.

From the message you’ve shared, I see there’s an issue with the ?“upgrade-temp-backup” folder, used for roll back plugins and themes https://make.www.ads-software.com/core/2023/07/11/new-in-6-3-rollback-for-failed-manual-plugin-and-theme-updates/

“The “upgrade-temp-backup” folder will simply contain a transient backup of the previously installed plugin or theme getting updated, and as soon as the update process finishes, the folder will be emptied.”

I guess that means that the folder could be emptied (maybe ask your hosting about this?). Maybe that could fix the issue.

Apart from this, I also wanted to mention that the two panel that you are having issues with, are not that important. The Neve Options panel is just a list of shortlinks to the Customizer ( where you say you have access ), and the Custom Layouts tab is just an upsell for the PRO version.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

    Rodica
