Moved site to go daddy cpanel with newest v4.1, but plugins will not update with new server configuration. Message on all plugin updates is:

Warning: touch(): Unable to create file /tmp/contact-form-7.tmp because No such file or directory in /home/martindenisej/public_html/wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 153

Warning: unlink(/tmp/contact-form-7.tmp): No such file or directory in /home/martindenisej/public_html/wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 453
An error occurred while updating Contact Form 7: Download failed. Could not open handle for fopen() to /tmp/contact-form-7.tmp

I switched out permissions in wp-content from 755 –> 777 and changed all permissions on w-p includes files from 644 –> 666, but still nothing with same message as above. Nothing changes. What else can I try?

  • If the plugin had originally made those files during installation and does not also make them again later if they happen to become missing (or if that plugin needs to have an actual server path updated in the database), a complete removal and re-installation of that plugin might solve the problem (like recently for me with a different plugin).

Thank you. I will try your suggestion – uninstall and reinstall the plugins to see if that works. Lots of times things just need a reboot to clear the dust bunnies!
