• Hi there all!

    Just like to announce that Amazon Media Manager 1.5 for WordPress is now available from https://www.sozu.co.uk/software/amm/

    It’s been a while in coming, but the new version is so far improved from the old one it hardly seems fit to call it 1.5, it should be 5.0 or something BUT, to stay in synch with the wordpress value for which it’s designed we went with 1.5

    The new system has:

    * Inbuilt search
    * Options page for, well, options
    * So many configurable ways to output stuff you’ll hopefully be able to do anything!
    * Support for displaying items in posts using quicktags
    * Go and get it now. ??

    Seriously, head over to https://www.sozu.co.uk/software/amm/ and grab a copy, there might be one or two little bugs we’ve not squashed but on the whole it should be all good.

    Sozu doesn’t have a forum or comment system yet, so for the meantime, keep your eyes on these forums and on https://www.denyerec.co.uk/index.php?p=198 where you can comment for the time being.

    If it calls for it, we’ll start a support thread in here too.

    Enjoy!

    ** PLEASE NOTE**
    Due to our host, occasionally you may get “Document Contains No Data” when trying to access the Sozu website.

    If this happens, just try again a few minutes later, they’re working out some issues.

  • Hi, I am having trouble getting some of the images to display. I think this is because they are for 3rd party merchants and not for Amazon. I am having trouble get the following ASIN to work: B000EBI4BW and B0006395QQ ( I know the last one is for the parent, I am just trying to get a listing for the KitchenAid Pro 600 Stand Mixer)

    It will generate a listing for an image:
    https://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000E3VB7E.02._PE_SCMZZZZZZZ_.jpg
    when the real listing is (from the image source on the page):
    https://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000E3VB7E.01-A3NN9THRUBU1AW._AA280_SCLZZZZZZZ_.gif

    Any ideas? Is anyone else having trouble with the images?

    Quick question. (I hope.)

    I’ve got a random sort up at https://www.makingchutney.com/stuff-i-like/ but I’d like to have something of “Next” button at the bottom to go to the next random five entries.

    Is there are call I can use for this? Alternatively, I can just link “Next” to the page itself, doing a de facto refresh, but I’d like to use “Next” to list the next five entries in the same initial random sort order.

    Hello everyone,

    I’ve just installed AMM, and I do like it, but here are the problems:

    I managed to get one post to work on my weblog: Quilt Epiphany Weblog but I’m not really sure exactly how. It just suddenly popped up with the right pic in the preview window after many saves. Now I’m trying to write another post, using the same code in the post except for the ID number:
    <!--amm_getMediaID('amm_my_first_go',2)-->

    and I’m getting nothing, no pic, no title, no author. Here’s what’s in my amm_extras.php file:

    function amm_my_first_go($amm){
    ?>
    <?php for ($x = 0; $x < $amm->totalItems(); $x++ ) :?>
    <?php echo $amm->imageLink(120);?>
    <p class="c3"><?php echo $amm->title();?>,by <?php echo $amm->author();?>

    <?php $amm->nextItem(); endfor; ?>

    <?php } ?> // Closing amm_my_first_go function

    Can anyone give me a hint? Thanks!

    PS, I hope I’ve posted this right, forums are not my strong point, and I didn’t know what was meant by “Put code in between backticks.” Would be nice if there was a preview button… ??

    All,

    Well, nevermind my previous post. ?? I think I figured it out. I thought I was enabling the custom field, but I guess I really wasn’t, so now I’ve got it. Great plugin!

    I’m new to wordpress, but know php, css etc. pretty well, although…

    I’m getting output errors with this plugin. Both bellow my ‘write’ posting box (where the upload option should be) and above my links page in WP. Here is the error..

    Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/another/public_html/cellardoor/wp/wp-content/plugins/amm/amm_extras.php:84) in /home/another/public_html/cellardoor/wp/wp-admin/inline-uploading.php on line 5

    I’ve checked for whitespace, and that isn’t the issue because I had a space and it stated in the error “whitespace found” and I fixed it, now it’s an “output” error, and it seems to be messing up a lot of my default WP functions as well as affecting other plugins/hacks. I don’t know how to fix this problem…

    Is your installation a default installation, or have you modified it in some way?

    You’ll need to send over any files you’ve modified if you’ve changed anything, so please contact me via my website so I can further assist you.

    Hi, I just wanted to say that the plugin worked great out of the box, and I really enjoy it…many thanks.

    However, it appears that there is a small problem: my RSS feed doesn’t seem to be working. There are spaces added to the beginning of the RSS file, and I have determined that when I unplug AMM, everything goes back to normal.

    I checked all of the files for extra whitespace before and after the <php>….I did find 2 extra spaces, but even after fixing that I still have the problem. Any ideas, please?

    (@denyerec)

    I looked at your feed source and there are 4 spaces inserted before the <?xml declaration, which is triggering the error. (If you’re using Firefox, you can still view the RSS even tho the error is on screen)

    it’s a long shot, but look in amm.php on line 134 and remove the whitespace before and after the script tags in the echo statement. That stuff should be nowhere near the RSS though… Mm.

    I had a look through the feed generator.
    ?feed=2 calls index.php which in turn loads wp-blog-header.php which then includes template-loader.php

    This calls a function is_feed(); which goes and includes wp-feed.php

    From here finally because it’s RSS 2 we get along to wp-rss2.php

    Here’s where the RSS output starts up, but I can’t find a sniff of AMM’s involvement through this execution thread.

    Furthermore I activated the “out of the box” plugin on another site of mine and incurred no errors, re:

    https://www.loughboroughkungfu.com/?feed=rss2

    As you can see, the feed is operating just fine so I am so far unable to replicate the error. Also I note you’re using the AMM in your sidebar, which in normal circumstances isn’t parsed by the RSS feed script anyway.

    Please get in touch via my website and send me a zipfile containing your amm_extras file, and also detail which other plugins you have active so I can try to replicate the error.

    Nice to see you supporting the AMM, too :/

    (Hint…)

    https://www.sozu.co.uk/software/amm/buttons.php

    I’m trying to make an inline text link in the amm template but it seems to hard return automatically after the title is listed. See example: https://archshrk.com/2006/04/my-creature-nemesis/ (near the bottom of that post. this is the code I’m using
    <?php
    function amm_list_title($amm){
    ?>
    <a href="<?php echo $amm->url(); ?>"><?php echo $amm->title();?></a>
    <?php
    }
    ?>

    Help! I’ve been trying to install this great plugin at https://www.rebeccawright.com for the last day or so and keep running into problems. I want to use a template and have images with links w/ my associates ID, with the ability to show CD’s, books, dvds and electronics I might be using. First I was getting template errors and now im getting a message saying template ‘amm_my_first_go cannot be found’ I want to allow a list of up to 12 items to be shown in the bottem section of my theme. Would someone be willing to show me how to build a basic template for this and call it correctly? Thanks very much!

    (@denyerec)

    Usually the basic doucumentation is enough to get people going, but every now and then I get people with the exact same problem each time.

    This is not your fault, it’s a definate lack of clarity in the documentation. However, I can’t afford to re-write it at the moment unless someone pays my rent for me… ??

    I’m going to upload a completed tutorial file so that people can see the whole tutorial complete, so check back at https://www.sozu.co.uk for that soon.

    @samspade32, what do you want to show in your list? images, title, author? The bigest issue with the tutorial (as I remember) was that the template file that comes with amm does not have ‘amm_my_first_go’ included.

    use ‘amm_default_output’ to verify it works then we can modify the output template to meet your needs.

    thanks for helping me get it working, archshrk!

    How can I get the rating not to show up in the output of my template? I haven’t been able to figure that out.

    https://www.rebeccawright.com

    thanks

    remove this line from the template you’re using…
    Rating: <?php echo $amm->rating();?>
