• Hi there all!

Just like to announce that Amazon Media Manager 1.5 for WordPress is now available from https://www.sozu.co.uk/software/amm/

It’s been a while in coming, but the new version is so far improved from the old one it hardly seems fit to call it 1.5, it should be 5.0 or something BUT, to stay in synch with the wordpress value for which it’s designed we went with 1.5

    The new system has:

    * Inbuilt search
    * Options page for, well, options
    * So many configurable ways to output stuff you’ll hopefully be able to do anything!
    * Support for displaying items in posts using quicktags
    * Go and get it now. ??

Seriously, head over to https://www.sozu.co.uk/software/amm/ and grab a copy, there might be one or two little bugs we’ve not squashed but on the whole it should be all good.

Sozu doesn’t have a forum or comment system yet, so for the meantime, keep your eyes on these forums and on https://www.denyerec.co.uk/index.php?p=198 where you can comment for the time being.

If it calls for it, we’ll start a support thread in here too.

    Enjoy!

    ** PLEASE NOTE**
Due to our host, occasionally you may get “Document Contains No Data” when trying to access the Sozu website.

If this happens, just try again a few minutes later, they’re working out some issues.

  • Hi,

Tried to get it to work on a page or a post, but never succeded, even though I ahve followed the description.

The quicktag is there, but it just doesn′t show anything.

When I try to embed the code in a template I get the following message:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare amm_default_output() (previously declared in \wwwroot\wp-content\plugins\amm\amm_extras.php:12) in \wwwroot\wp-content\themes\AndyBlue\right-sidebar.php on line 23

    I am using WordPress 2.03.

Any pointers on what is wrong?

    larzi, what’s your website?

Hey everyone. I’ve got the AMM installed and working fine, I’m just trying to style it and having some trouble. I’m a newbie to WordPress and don’t know diddly about php or CSS, so I’m definitely fumbling my way around.

I want the captions for my images that are output by AMM to appear next to the image, instead of below it – like this:

https://www.deliciousdays.com/ (scroll down a little bit and look at “currently enjoying” section).

I’ve looked up all kinds of info on CSS and how to float images and so on, tinkered with the style sheet, tinkered with the amm_extras.php page and so on. Nothing I do makes it work right. Obviously, it’s possible, I’ve seen it on several other pages besides delicious days.

Does anybody know how to do this? Thanks for your help!

Never mind! It was CSS and I finally figured it out. Thanks anyway!

    Hello!
I am a absolute beginner, so please forgive me my lack of knowledge. Could be that the answer is a real easy one. Ia want to put my results (book list) into two columns but don’t get what I need to do to accomplish this. How does the php look like correctly and what file should I put it in?

    In the post
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/41333/page/3?replies=185#post-254813
    I read:
“Putting the results into columns would be a challenge for the CSS (…) In the output loops provided and explained in the AMM, only one item is output in each iteration of the loop. There’s nothing stopping you using the NextItem() function to move on and output 2 items in each iteration, allowing you to build rows of 2.”

Sounds easy but I have no idea what to begin with…

I can’t get the manager to work reliably…
    I get this error.
Failed to connect to 72.21.210.8: Permission denied

It also says that the search was successful, but it does not return anything in the listing. I used to get the curl and fopen errors until i modified the php.ini file to allow curl on my hosting service. But now i get this error in its place. Every once in a while it will let a search or two go through, but usually not.

What could i request with my service provider to get it to work, or what could i modify in the php.ini to open it up?

    Rookie question –
Playing with the plugin, which is way cool by the way, and can’t figure out why the Amazon search result page only shows 10 results when I selecte a category such as Books, DVD. Also it always returns the same 10 items for the same key word.

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks for feedback.

try modifying your search by adding a little more detail or searching for something more unique to your product. Also, if all else fails, find the product number and search that way. Sorry I can’t help more but I’m just a user, not the developer.

    Hello,

I am currently using your great plugin at https://www.chrispayne.ca and have the book I am currently reading displayed in the sidebar and I have a link at the top of the page I use to display all of the books I have read in descending order.

I have been pulling my hair out for a couple of days now trying to the the booksread page to display everything except for the book being currently read. Is there an easy way to do this?

I am also having troubles getting some of the images displayed when I customize the amm_output.php file. If I take out the safe check, I get the images to appear with the nice drop shadows I have picked, but I have 2 books that don’t have any image displayed. When I un-comment the server check, everything goes back to small pictures (the default) and I get the no-picture available image that I do want if the book doesn’t have any cover art available.

I have been trying to get the fancy images (_PC_.jpg) displayed for the books that can work and the Amazon no book cover available image for those that can’t. I did read that by commenting the check, it is all or nothing ?? Any progress on that front?

    Thanks again.

    Chris

Can’t help you with the image problem but as for the sorting books read/not read, put the value READ in the MODEL description for books and then display books that match that search criteria.

I just have to say, When I first saw this plugin today I figured I’d never get it working. I have never touched functions, and put them together to do what I wanted. I’ve moved things around, sure but never making anything myself. Your instructions are wonderful, and when I’m done I should have my “movie of the week” my cd of the week, all set up and neatly placed in widgets. I love this plugin, I shop so much on amazon it’s great I can share my favorites so easily. Great work!

whoops…spoke to soon, if i use the theme editor to modify my theme I get

“Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at path/wp-content/plugins/amm/amm_extras.php:85) in path/wp-admin/theme-editor.php on line 61”

    Any ideas?

Open the relevant file (amm_extras.php probably) in something like notepad, and make sure there’s no extra whitespace either before the opening <?php tag or after the closing ?> tag.

Thank you! I had to play chase the whitespace, but it’s fixed now, I wouldn’t have thought of that I always panic first:o)

    No problem, have fun!
