New Background color for Home page, Genesis theme

What changes do I need to make to functions.php and the stylesheet, and where do I need to insert the changes?

https://smbresearch.net uses the Genesis theme. I am creating a new static front page, and I would like to use a background color on this home page that is different from the other pages.

What changes do I need to make to functions.php and the stylesheet, and where do I need to insert the changes? I do not see a body class in functions.php to assign a “body.home { background: #fff; }” to.

After looking through the support forum, and the Genesis documentation, I am still at a loss as to how to accomplish this.
